. No matter all the major search engines are stopping this and are checking websites meta tags to make sure they are correct and are right. any that are found not to be will loose there rank and the ones that are ok will be ranked higher. I am tired now it is hard work doing this blog in this heat it is now 5:25 am and the temp is still 23c. Nice though.

. I think it is time for a bit of sleep although the temperature here in the day has been recorded at  47c, at night it is a lot cooler. Did you notice the earthquake yesterday morning around 1:30am? It seemed to rumble for a while, there was no damage though building regulation out here includes this in the foundations so if you have a proprty built properly then you should have no problems.Need to make sure that your insurance covers this and you have the builders certs for it though.

. Yes I felt it and heard it sounded like a load crash and then a rumble that only lasted seconds. I need my sleep going to go to sleep now.

We have been very busy doing very little for quite awhile now and are only just getting organized. Everything seems to take longer in Spain not because it is Spain but just because every day is so nice and you want to enjoy every minute and every second. But the downside to this is that time goes much quicker and what starts out as a day soon turns into a week and then a whole month.  Always “Mañana” and enjoy today seems to be the correct way to live in Spain, Not because anyone is lazy in Spain, far from it, and heat out here can make a simple job tens times more effort but because this is the way to live, it is a shame that the whole world can not do the same especially UK..

Yogi and me have been having fun in the Sun and we love it. Been all over Torrevieja and Sam Miguel and resting in the Sun,  Yogi has a black belly now and is always sunbathing I need to keep in the shade though as it gets to hot for me and I worry about the affects of Ageing due to too much sun and UV Rays... How do you mean ageing you are as old as you feel Misty. I love the sun and lying in it gives me a re- charge like re-charging batteries, I feel so much better after sunbathing and I love seeing the sunshine and the warmth. Yogi it is so bad for you the sun Light can cause premature ageing so we are told. And I have my looks to worry about.. Why? You spend far  too much time worrying about all these thing and miss out on enjoying life. I like the Sun and the feel of it as it warms up.mind you today is is very warm 85f and you just seem to sweat. Night time it seems even warmer until about 3 in the morning when it is quite chilly. 

. We have been down the road to the field and had some carobs. Those folk collected a load of them the other day, they were whacking the branches with sticks and putting them in a big bag. They had loads of them I suppose they will be making something with them. They should of asked us first it was our field.. I know they had a cheek still there are plenty left for us. It is quite nice we go for a play and we can eat as many as we like. Is it going to be hot and cloudy today I see a lot of clouds about I hope it is not going to rain again. Have you noticed there are loads of people about must be that school in the UK are on the holidays and the Spanish are here too they start the big holiday soon they have the whole of August of. All banks and places like that close for a month. Not bad for workers but I suppose it is too hot to work anyway.

. I could not work in this heat it is bad enough just walking down to the field..

 I would like to give some tips for buying a car in Spain. Can be difficult need to do many things I have listed some of them below. If you want to avoid this go to a good garage or car sales place and they will sort everything out for you. We have done this and we have been lucky and managed to buy a car with all the documents sorted for us. All legal and correct. We will put the picture below of the car It is quite old and in the UK only worth a fraction, but out here in Spain the cost of second hand cars are far more. Maybe it is just the cost of making them legal.

What is the empadronamiento?

Empadronamiento refers to the process of registering with your community’s padrón (city roll), also called the Padrón Municipal de Habitantes. The municipal padrón is the official record of all the people who live in a particular community and is the official way to verify or accredit your stay in Spain. By law, everyone who resides in Spain should be registered in the community where they live. In practice, the empadronmiento is your key to becoming a member of your Spanish community and you can apply as an individual or as a family. Whether you are here in Spain legally or not, you should consider registering with your local padrón, as it provides innumerable benefits if you intend to live in Spain for any extended period of time.

What benefits do YOU receive from getting empadronado?

First, getting empadronado means that you’re considered an official resident of your community. Consider this your first step to integration into Spanish life. Second, the empadronamiento is the way that your stay or residence in Spain is verified or accredited – a necessity for a variety of administrative procedures. For example, you will generally need a volante or certificado de empadronamiento to do the following things in your Spanish community: o                Enroll your children in local schools. o                Get married. o                Apply for a local health card (el carnét para la asistencia sanitaria). o                Vote. o                Apply for certain visas. o                Apply for residency by way of a general amnesty.Important Note for Non-EU Citizens in Spain: For those who don’t have their papers in order, you have nothing to fear from registering. The information you provide is considered confidential. In fact, it’s in the city’s best interest to have an accurate count of the number of people within their jurisdiction and you can rest assured that they will NOT use this list to go after illegal immigrants or those who overstay their visas.

What benefits does the CITY receive when you’re empadronado?

Based on the number of inhabitants, a city or town receives money from the government to provide services to those who live within its juridiction, which means that if you’re registered or empadronado, then the city receives money to provide services on your behalf, regardless of your legal status. It’s therefore in the city’s best interest (and yours really, for optimum service levels) to have an accurate count of who is really living in the community and using (or potentially using) the public services in question. It is for this reason that registration with the padrón is confidential.

Essential Spanish vocabulary: Navigating through all the padrón-type words

(el) padrón/Padrón Municipal de Habitantes=The official municipal record of how many people live in a particular area.
(el) empadronamiento=Registration with your municipality/community.
(el) volante de empadronamiento=A temporary or informal certificate of your registration as a member of the community. For most of your local needs, this should be sufficient.
(el) certificado de empadronamiento=The official certificate of your registration as a member of the community. You may need it for certain legal procedures with national or foreign bodies.
(la) hoja de empadronamiento=The application form you’ll need to register with your community.
empadronado (for men)/empadronada (for women) (it’s used as an adjective)=Registered with your community.
estar empadronado (for men)/estar empadronada (for women)=To be registered with your community.
(el) ayuntamiento=City or town hall.

How and where to get empadronado in Spain

Getting empadronado is largely a question of filling out a form and gathering together the required documents. Considering the staggering amount of bureaucracy required for certain other official procedures, the empadronamiento is pretty painless. Once she had the form filled out and the documents in hand, it took the author of this article only a half hour to: 1) wait in line at her local junta in Madrid, 2) have the application processed, and 3) receive the volante de empadronamiento.  When you apply in person you will be issued a volante de empadronamiento on the spot. You can apply for your empadronamiento in person, and depending on where you live, you may also have the option to apply by phone or on the Internet. However, when you apply in person you will be issued a volante de empadronamiento on the spot. Otherwise, it will usually be mailed to you.  To apply in person, you usually need to go down to your local ayuntamiento (city or town hall) or junta/Junta Municipal de Distrito (city neighborhood administrative office), although in some towns other offices are responsible for servicing applications. To find out exactly where you need to go, start by calling your town hall or visiting their website. Your local Spanish phone directory (Páginas Amarillas) may also list this information in the section called Gestiones under Empadronamiento. If you divide your time between more than one Spanish community, you should register in the community where you spend the greater part of your time. The volante de empadronamiento is free, but to obtain an official certificado de empadronamiento, you may or may not have to pay a fee, depending on where you live. In most cases, the volante is all you’ll need for official procedures (trámites) when working with the local bureaucracy. The official certificado is generally only needed as required by national or foreign bodies.

Required documents for getting empadronado

Since you will be dealing with a bureaucracy, you will need to furnish both the original and a photocopy of each required document (though you won’t need to photocopy the application form itself).  Requirements may vary from municipality to municipality, so it’s best to check with your local ayuntamiento (city or town hall), but the most common required documents are: o                The application form (hoja de empadromiento): The office that processes the applications will be able to provide you with one. o                Documentation that accredits your identity (and those of your children if you are applying as a family): Passport, DNI or national identity card, residency card, NIE, etc. o                Proof that you live where you say you live.If you own your own house or apartment, you will need to provide a copy of your title deeds (escritura). If you are renting a house or apartment, you will need to provide a copy of your rental contract signed by the owner, utility bills in your name, or receipts for utility bills that you have paid in your name. If you are renting a room in a house or apartment, you will need your landlord (or a roommate who is already empadronado) to vouch that you are living at that address. This usually means that they have to sign your application form and furnish a photocopy of their DNI or passport, or even better is for them to accompany you to the local council to present their ID in person.

Renewal, moving, and other concerns

Renewal: If you are not a European Union national AND do not have a permanent residence visa (autorización de residencia permanente), you will need to renew your empadronamiento every two years. In all other cases, you will not need to renew. Your community will consider you a resident until they hear otherwise. However, if you move, have a child, or if any of the information you have provided changes, you will need to update your information with the padrón. When moving to another community within Spain: Once you get empadronado in your new community, your old community will automatically be notified on your behalf. If you are moving out of Spain: You will need to notify your community that you are moving out of Spain so they can update their records accordingly. If you are moving to another address within the same community: You will need to notify your community that you have moved so they can update their records accordingly.

Misty. Yogi what are you doing ? Do you want to watch the weather? We have thunder and Lightning and rain and the view is great.

Yogi. I am just not happy with the bangs and today they have a festival in Torrevieja and all the shops are shut and everyone is out and now they have cannons firing. I am just going to stay away from the noise for now it makes me shake and I am scared.

Misty. Yes they have a Seafarer’s festivals of the Virgin of Carmen and the International Festival of Habaneras and Poliphonic singing.16 July - Virgen del Carmen (Patron Saint) Loads of signing and they have a final today for all the ones that get through. Nice if we could go. But we have to sit here and miss out.

Three Kings, TorreviejaThree Kings takes place from 01^st January to 04^th January with the festival of the Three Kings taking place on 05^th January. The festival is set in the story of what we call the three wise men. On the 5^th January this festival is brought to a close with a grand parade when traditionally in Spain this is when Spanish children get presents.Please note: Prior to Christmas Social Services and the Red Cross collect old/new toys, which are distributed to the less fortunate. So if you see a collection please give something, even a small £1 toy is appreciated 

      Lent CarnivalThe Lent Carnival starts six weeks before Easter, and Torrevieja has a big carnival, celebrating the start of Lent. Culminating in a large procession that travels through Torrevieja Town. As the Carnival preceeds Easter I have not put dates on this, as it changes every year.Las Fallas, ValenciaLas Fallas takes place on 12th March until 19th March. Las Fallas is one the most unique festivals in the whole of Spain. Originally starting as a feast day for St. Joseph (the patron saint of carpenters), has now become a five day celebration of fire. Las Fallas literally means ‘the fires’ in Valencian. Over 350 vast structures are placed throughout the city. The structures can cost £40,000 and more each, and take over six month to build. These structures are known as ninots. The ninots stay in place, throughout the city, until the 19th March.Then the local young men cut holes in them and stuff them full of fireworks. Then the crowd start chanting, the street lights are put out, and at the stroke of midnight the ninots are set alight, worth seeing if you’re in the area.    Semana SantaSemana Santa takes place one week before Easter. People dress in robes, representing Jesus, some people wear robes with hoods as a reminder of the suffering Jesus endured and his crucifixion.Holy WeekBasically its a week, the week before Easter to be precise, and is a week of celebrations, festivals and parades. Pine Caterpillars are probably one of the most unpleasant creatures you will find in Spain. Certainly where there is a pine tree forest. They are found throughout the warmer regions of southern Europe.PicIf you have pine trees in your garden, keep an eye out for processionary pine caterpillars!All types of pine tree in the mediterranean region can suffer from the processionary caterpillar which make their nests in pine trees.  The nests are similar to white candy floss and if possible should be pruned from the tree and destroyed.  It is necessary to use caution when dealing with these caterpillars as they are covered in lots of irritating hairs.  If the hairs come in contact with skin or are in inhaled can cause acute allergic reactions in some people, including irritation of the skin and eyes and effects on the respiratory system. They can be fatal if ingested by pets.If you have come into contact with these caterpillars and become affected it is advisable to seek medical advice.

Processional pine caterpillars or Thaumetopoea pityocampa are common to Spain and France. Normally found nesting in the abundance of pine trees on hillsides in this area, they have a terrifying reputation.
So called because they travel nose to tail in a line, processional pine caterpillars are quite small, but they present a major danger to trees and animals, and can cause a severe allergic reaction in humans.
The caterpillar’s ‘fur’ is where the danger lies. It is in fact a layer of poisonous harpoon-like spines that remain toxic even when the caterpillar has died.
The hairs can also become detached and float in the air if the caterpillar is disturbed, creating the risk of inhalation. Care must be taken when walking dogs in areas where the caterpillars may have marched as there is a possibility that some hairs may remain on the ground.
If one should drop on you or your pet from a tree, the advice is not attempt to brush them off with your hands, as even touching them can cause a reaction such as a rash or pain. In rare cases people have been known to suffer from anaphylactic shock, in the same way that people who are allergic to bee and wasp stings can.  If any hairs get into your eyes you could experience some swelling and soreness, similar to the symptoms of conjunctivitis. If you plan to go walking in areas where the caterpillars are rife, you might want to carry antihistamine tablets with you. 
The caterpillars start life in silk cocoon style nests in pine trees.

They inflict damage, stripping the trees of their needles, then leave the cocoon and seek out another tree on which to feed.
Most noticeable from January to mid April the caterpillars are at their most dangerous in mid to late February, when they can often be seen in the evenings going from tree to tree.
At the end of the winter months, the caterpillars will make their way down to the warm spots in the soil where they dig themselves into the ground in order to pupate. They may sometimes halt their development during this period, for up to three years, while awaiting favourable climatic conditions.
The moths that lay eggs are particularly attracted to the silhouette of a tree – especially if it stands alone. So, if you have a problem with caterpillars in your garden, it could be resolved by planting clumps of trees to deter the moths from laying eggs.
The damage to the trees themselves can be extensive. Young trees may even die, and saplings that are stripped of needles are more susceptible to secondary pests such as bark beetles and pine weevils.
It’s because of this potential damage from caterpillars that preventative and curative measures are taken in Spain to stop them becoming out of control.
Trapping by using G-traps baited with the pheromone pityolure is used to monitor population levels in summer.
Other methods employed include the destruction of winter nests by cutting or shooting and burning them, and the aerial application of insecticides during outbreaks.
All in all, the processional caterpillar is not the friendliest creature. But the threat to people and animals is can be lessened by trying not to come into contact with the hairs.
Thankfully, because of the distinct line that the caterpillars form when marching, it is easy to spot them and give them a wide birth. CATERPILLARS:
THE FACTS  It’s their hairs that can cause irritation. They are easy to spot because they travel in lines, or processions, hence the name. Eggs are laid in batches, wrapped around a couple of needles.  They live in groups and young ones make small provisional nests. They feed on pine needles and cause yellow-brownish discoloration.    Just in case you do not know how bad this is. If you are playing Golf and any of these chaps are seen, the Golf coarse will be shut down until they are gone.. Thats bad.

    That’s the last time I go to the vets. I had an accident and tore a nail of and lost a lot of blood but I am ok now they have taken of my bandage and I don’t have to ware that silly collar anymore

    How are you Misty? You were not very happy yesterday or today. We were running and the next I knew was you were bleeding everywhere. Your nail was completely around the wrong way that must of hurt loads.

   It was really painful and I felt really sick. I had to go to the Vets to have it sorted. I was really upsetting and I did not want anybody touching it. I would not allow the humans too.

  . I heard it took two shots to put you under. Then the Vet pulled the split nail of and then put some antiseptic cream on and then gave you the nice bandage. The collar

They put around your neck was to stop you chewing the bandage off you did look funny and you were all drowsy when you came out and kept walking into things.

  That’s just typical of you Yogi you don’t care and you make jokes out of everything. anyway here are some pics taken and even though I am not well I will post them before the pain becomes to much for me. Oh and we have a few emails sent in. I think yogi has been playing about though he said he has not.

 Misty hard at work writeing the blog

  I have had a slight problem with my anal glands and in an early post one of the humans was going to sort out a DIY method for sorting it, that did not work and ended up at the vets again to have it done for me. I hate that though so I have worked out a way of doing it myself. It means that when I go to number 2  I sit on the ground and drag my bum over the rough ground and it works.

 You have to put your rear legs forward and then drag yourself backwards or forward. The rougher the ground the better. I find that this sort of ground is best rubs and cleans.

Problem solved and I know have no need to have my glands squeezed every time by the dreaded vets. I happy Humans are happy they don’t have to pay out to the vets. Fantastic I wish I knew about it earlier but I have had no one to show me, If anyone wants to know how email me at yogi@yourjr.com Oh yes we have our own email address now.

  They are interested in me that’s why. I am the one that folks come to read about not you. I always new I would be famous one day it is in my blood.

 Misty you are “highly strung” that’s the only thing in your blood. I think that folk are more interested in the way of life and what we BOTH get up to. And also that the Blog is informative.

  You don’t even know how to spell informative let alone know what it means. How dare you think that I am highly strung. Anyway I will deal with that later. Oh by the way Yogi how is your new friend I see that you now give lifts on your back to Cats. Do you not thing that that is strange as we are after all Jack Russells and we in the right order of things chase cats. This cat may I note followed you all around the path and jumped on you. That is quite sad don’t you think and you just let it sit on your back.

 The cats in Torrevieja are very dominant and I tried to defend myself but I have been so used to cats over the years I did not expect to be attacked by one. The reason is just a few doors down that cat had a litter and she was protecting it thinking that we may harm her kittens.

 Anyway Misty what about Horn Back Toads? Do they taste nice? You tried to bite one and I could see all the foam coming out of your mouth and you we sick and had the runs. Bet you wont do that again. It is lucky you did not eat it or you would not be here today. They can kill you they have lumps all over there backs that have poison in them.

  That was not nice it tasted nasty. Will not do that again I have been very tired the heat here in Spain is very hot at night. The temp last night was 80f indoors and the thunder and lightning went on all night but without rain, strange.. I have only managed to sleep from 6.30am through to 10.00am this morning I need to have a sleep. I have some pictures of your cat friend to post. And some others.

 It seems that cooking outside is all the rage here. Every one wants to cook outside. Mainly because if you have a standard fuse box at the lower amp and have to many things on at the same time the fuse pops. You can get around this by getting an electrician to upgrade the fuse to 15 amp I think. So we have some pictures of cooking outside with a ring and a bottle of butane gas see if you can spot the dish. Yogi have you gone to sleep already?

Yes. The real reason for cooking outside is that you can, the weather is sunny and dry and there is nothing better than a barbecue. I have got to have a sleep I will chat later. Here is a good pic it is spot the mistake. This one was done by the female human they spent ages looking for the remote for the tele.

Yogi it was a bit to loud for you tonight. Spain won the 2008 Europe cup in football and all of Torrevieja went mad with fireworks and sounding there car horns. This is the first time in 24 years that Spain has won it. The game was to beat Germany with a ball something that you like.

  I have never liked fireworks ever since the day at Iris close when the next door aimed one of there rockets in the garden and it landed and went off only a foot away from me, And since that day I will always be frightened. I enjoyed the football match though Spain was the better side and deserved a few more goals than they got.

   You misted most of the match when you hid in the cupboard and in the loo upstairs.

  I could still hear it though. It is past 1am and people are still sounding there horns but there are no fireworks now. It is very hot here the tem thingy says it is 80f and it has been like this for about three weeks solid. I need to loose some hair to cool down.

   It might help if you lost some weight as well.

  I am not fat. I have not had much to eat over the last few days the dog food is bad here and taste bad.

   I only eat pedigree because I am one I do not like the canned food what is it called friskies or something like that. Dog food is really expensive here from €0-70 cents a tin or packet. And worst of all it gives you the runs so it is better to have the dried food complete which taste nice. That’s all for today we will be adding a lot more soon just have to go through some of the pictures we have taken, Just an interesting thing we took some pictures of bridges on the way down through France and it just so happens that this bridge has the furthest fall to the bottom.

  That’s right Misty it is famous through out the world.  Like Concorde and the Channel Tunnel, the bridge is Franco-British. 

French construction group Eiffage - that built the Eiffel Tower - financed the project in return for the right to collect receipts from a bridge toll for 75 years. The bridge is now a source of pride for Millau, which believes many more tourists will come to admire one of the engineering wonders of the 21st Century, our correspondent says. The construction also removes a bottleneck at the town, completing a new motorway link between Paris and the Mediterranean. The construction of the steel bridge - now weighing about 36,000 tonnes - began in December 2001, using innovative techniques. From the north and south sides of the valley, the metal sections of the structure were assembled, lifted slightly and then carefully slotted into place on each of the supporting pillars.

. Well it’s been a long time away from this blog. Time seems to go so fast out here with the weather being so nice. We have been here there and every where.

. We have had some bad rain as well misty around I think 4 weeks ago, it did not stop for a whole week and as there are no drains as such in Spain the roads fill up like rivers. Thunder and lightning is very, very frightening, indeed.

. You surprised me that you were not that scared though Yogi. You did not run away and hide like you would do a while back.

I did enjoy some of the lightning I suppose it is more tropical in Spain.

. We have a few pictures of the weather and some others that I will go through and post here over the next few days. I even have a few of your new friend Yogi you know the one with the cat.

. That cat is not my friend and I don’t want to talk about it. any way here ar some of the pics we have taken.
